How do I configure TriDef 3D to work with my 3D display?

After installation, TriDef 3D Display Setup will be launched. To run TriDef 3D Display Setup again, please select:

Start → All Programs → TriDef → Utilities → TriDef 3D Display Setup.

TriDef 3D Display Setup should automatically detect your 3D display. If the detected display is correct select "Yes" and follow any additional prompts.

If your 3D display is not detected then you must select your 3D display using TriDef 3D Control Panel:

Start → All Programs → TriDef → Utilities → TriDef 3D Control Panel.

Select your display Manufacturer from the pulldown list, then select the Model. If you cannot find an exact match, then select "(standard display types)" from the Manufacturer list and select the type of display from the Model list.

  • "Line Interlaced" can be used for some passive glasses displays (eg, FPR).
  • "Side by Side" can be used for displays which accept side by side 3D input.

If you are connecting a HDMI 1.4 3D TV/monitor/projector, and have a compatible AMD graphics card, then select the "AMD" manufacturer and "AMD HD3D Technology (HDMI 1.4a)" model.

Why do I not see a 3D effect? Why do I see double images?

There are several reasons why you may not see a 3D effect, or why the 3D effect may not be optimal:

  1. Ensure that you have the correct 3D glasses on (if applicable), and are sitting in the ideal position.
  2. Ensure that the desktop resolution is set to the 3D display resolution. If you are unsure what this resolution should be, then please consult your 3D display's user guide.
  3. Ensure that you are not in 2D mode. Press "3" in TriDef 3D Media Player or "Alt+Shift+-" in TriDef 3D Ignition to switch between 2D and 3D mode.
  4. Ensure the 3D Scene Depth is greater than 0.
  5. It is believed that approximately 10% of the population are "stereo blind" and cannot perceive stereoscopic 3D depth effects.
