Samsung S27A750D + radeon RX580 + Win10 64

Postby Norrin78 » Wed May 23, 2018 3:10 am

Hello,
I know tridef is kinda dead, but I've been trying to make this setup work with tridef and I can't manage:

Samsung S27A750D (used to work just fine a few years back with Win7 and a radeon HD7970)
Radeon RX580 (latest drivers, using DP)
Win 10 64 bits latest update (april 2018 I think)
Samsung tridef launcher (1.1.8)
Latest Ignition 3.10 beta 2

I tried it only with a game I know worked in the past (Titan Quest with steam) although the game has been updated lately.

I get all messages like it is working fine ("3D glasses connected to monitor", "watching 3D image"), but it seems that the picture is rendered in some sort of 2D lower resolution, with no 3D effect at all...

Tried 2 different goggles.

I'm wondering if I'm missing something here.

Do latest radeon drivers still work with tridef (and HD3D, since it pretty much disappeared)?
Could Win 10 create some problem (I noticed a 3D option in the display configuration)?
At least, should this setup work?

If anyone has any clue/advice/similar setup that works,

Thank you

OK so Deus ex: Human Revolution works fine (steam+native HD3D so without using tridef).
Will try with other games and tridef.
Wait & see

External design, support for DisplayPort, 120 Hz (DP)
through HDMI did not check the frequency. Disk with all the necessary drivers in the kit.
Turning 2D into 3D by the resources of the monitor itself is quite amusing.

I don't understand your posts. I'm using display port (didn't check the frequency though, but I guess it's 120Hz since it was designed to work like this).

Tried another game (Split second, through Steam) and it doesn't work either. First, the game take much longer to load than usual. Then, when watching the screen, one of the lenses seems to have no image. It doesn't come from the glasses because when I watch something else (like my phone for ex) I can see through both lenses. It's like the screen isn't displaying an image for each eye, but only for one (in frame sequential mode). Actually when I pull off the glasses, I don't see any stereo effect. Just one image with poor quality.
So I thought it could come from the screen, but like I mentionned, the setup works just fine with a game that has native stereo 3D support (Deus Ex HR).
So I'm still stuck here trying to use tridef.

Anyone succeeding in making a similar setup work with tridef?

Soooooo
As I'm desperatly looking for information on the net about this, i'll keep this thread updated with my investigation
It's driving me nuts, really

So, new setup, fresh install, latest tridef (7.4) and Win10. It works with Deus ex Human Revolution, through steam. I get a good stereo 3D effect.
I tried other games without stereo 3D native support. So they need tridef, and it doesn't work. Tried Titan Quest Anniversary edition and Split Second through Steam. Also tried Tomb Raider Legend without Steam (I own the DVD).
Eah time, same symptoms:
With glasses off, display isn't blurry (as it should be in sequential mode).
With glasses on, the right lens stays shuttered (I can see through the left lens but not through the right one).

So it looks like screen is only displaying the left eye image and doesn't switch between left and right. As if it was stuck on the left image.

Maybe it has to do with some radeon crimson setting or win 10?

Obviously, Samsung display and glasses work fine (like with Deus ex HR).

If anyone has any clue, you're very much welcome here.

Thanks

I have the same problem with my Samsung S23A750D with Radeon RX480 on Windows 10 64

After a lot of work looking for any problems I am certain that it quit working with a specific Windows 10 update last year. I had read of other problems on nVidia systems with that same update. I do not know if Microsoft ever fixed that or if nVidia changed anything, but the last I read was that they did not have enough information or support to address the issue.

As it stands, I do not think it is a problem with the AMD drivers or the Tridef software. I am sure either one could come up with a fix though, but as is, the right eye frame is no longer being rendered in anything that requires third party 3D support.

Since I can use PowerDVD in 3D just fine in graphics mode I know the monitor and glasses and the underlying hardware are all in perfect working order.

I have found no solution to this problem either and I am very very disappointed as I found 3D to be quite enjoyable and it was the main reason I purchased a Samsung monitor and an AMD video card.

I still hope for a solution to show up!!!!

Yeah,

I just recently noticed it too.

Tridef HD3D doesn't seem to work properly anymore.

I tried two different graphic cards, a RX 580 and a Radeon 7870. They both have the same issue.

Tried two different graphic drivers, 18.6.1 and 18.10.2.

Tried out a Samsung 3D monitor and a Sony 3D HDTV. Doesn't work on either display.

Also tried different brands of glasses.

No matter what combination I test, the right side of the glasses remain dark.

Games that support HD3D natively - and thereby do not require Tridef - work as intended. Tested with Tomb Raider 2013, Dirt 3 and Battlefield 3. The steroscopic player from the 3dtv.at website is also able to produce a proper 3D picture via HD3D.

If it is an Windows 10 Update that broke Tridef, maybe an older OS like Windows 7 oder 8.1 might still work... When I have the time, I will check it out.

-------------------------------

EDIT: Aaaaand I guess I may have found the culprit: With the newer Windows 10 versions full screen optimization is enabled by default. Right click on the games executable, properties and disable full screen optimizations. You may want to disable it for TriDefIgnition.exe and TriDefMediaPlayer.exe as well.
