Why isn't the TriDef Movie Player on the TriDef download page?

The TriDef Movie player has been replaced by the TriDef Media Player, and is no longer available.

You can play exisitng TriDef Movies (files with the .TriDefMovie file extension) using the TriDef Media Player.

The Free version of the TriDef Media Player will play any exisitng .TriDefMovie files you have in full screen (not 2D/3D split-screen) mode.

What is TriDef Movie Player?

TriDef Movie Player enables you to view 3D TriDef movies in a variety of formats on a range of 3D displays. If you want to play a wide variety of open format 3D media files, please use the TriDef Media Player.

Please Note: TriDef POPvert player is now a retired product. You can view TriDef POPverts using TriDef Media Player.

Why does the 3D effect look wrong?

The 3D Settings may be set too low or too high.

Depth-based 3D Media items are affected by up to two sets of 3D Settings: Media 3D Settings (either Custom 3D Settings or 3D Settings Modifiers) and Playlist 3D Settings Modifiers. Remember to add these two types of settings together when you are making adjustments.

Why can't I see any 3D at all?

The TriDef software may be in 2D Mode. Press '3', or your Display's 3D switch (if it has one).

The 3D Settings (particularly 3D Scene Depth) may be set so low that there is little or no 3D effect.

Why am I getting licensing errors?

TriDef Licenses have a range of options relating to the type of 3D Media you can play. Make sure that the 3D Media you are trying to play is covered by the license you have activated.

If you were previously able to use TriDef Movie Player on this computer, but you are now unable to, the license may have expired and you will need to re-activate your software.

Why is the playback not smooth?

Your system may not be capable of playing the selected 3D Media in its current configuration. Try decreasing the video card's color depth to 16-bit. If you have always had these performance problems, then you may need to upgrade the video card and/or other system components.

Alternatively, the machine may not have enough capacity to run TriDef Movie Player and other applications concurrently. Make sure that no other applications are running when using TriDef Movie Player, if performance is an issue.

Make sure that DMA Mode (Direct Memory Access) is enabled for the Hard Drive. See the Microsoft Windows documentation for information on enabling DMA.

The performance of many programs, including TriDef Movie Player, is likely to be poor if you are running a laptop on batteries. It is recommended that movies are played while on mains power.

Playing TriDef Movies directly from a CD-ROM or over the network can also affect playback performance and should be avoided if possible.
