How do I install DDD software?

Instructions on installing TriDef Software is available in the Support area of the website on the Installation page.

How do I setup the software to work with my 3-D Display?

After installing your software, you will be prompted to run the TriDef Display Setup. This will guide you through the process of configuring your display.

Alternatively, you can launch the TriDef Control Panel (double-click TriDef Control Panel in the System Tray). Select the manufacturer of your 3-D Display from the Manufacturer list. Then do the same for the Model. If you have multiple displays connected to this machine, you should select the appropriate entry in the 3-D Display Location list box. Click the 'Show' button to test that the correct location has been chosen. Click 'OK' when the Model and Location are correct.

Why does a 'TriDef License Activation' window appear when I first run my software?

TriDef applications must be activated in order to use them.

Free Playback Software is able to be used without completing the Activation process, however features not supported by the free trial version will be displayed in 2-D/3-D Split Screen. These features will be enabled when an Activation Code is purchased.

Activation is a simple online process which enables the software you have purchased to run on your chosen computer. After making your purchase, DDD will email you an 'Activation Code'. When you run a DDD application for the first time, click the 'Enter Code' button (if you are connected to the Internet) and enter in your details when asked. You will then receive a second email. After following the instructions in that email, you will then be able to use your TriDef software.

Furher instructions are available on the Activation page.

My computer is not connected to the Internet. Can I still activate my DDD software, and if so, how?

Yes. When the 'TriDef License Activation' window appears, choose 'Save Shortcut'. You will then be told that a file has been saved on your desktop. Copy this file onto another computer that is connected to the Internet and double-click it. Then, enter in your details, and you will soon receive a second email. After following the instructions in that email, you will then be able to use your TriDef software.

Furher instructions are available on the Activation page.

How can I modify the 3-D effect I am observing?

In most DDD applications there are two major 3-D settings that you can use to modify the 3-D effect. These are '3-D Scene Depth' and '3-D Focal Point'.

The 3-D Scene Depth setting allows you to modify the extent of the 3-D effect. That is, the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in the scene.

The 3-D Focal Point setting allows you to position the entire 3-D scene in front of the screen, or behind the screen, or somewhere in between. In effect, as you modify this setting you are choosing which object appears at the screen level (all objects behind this one will appear to be behind the screen).

How do I activate my trial amira software on my Sharp AL3D laptop?

Why do I receive a "The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted." error after downloading and double-clicking the TriDef installation file(s) on Windows XP?

If you have successfully downloaded the TriDef installation files and receive the error specified above, please ensure that the folder name you are extracting into does not contain any Multibyte characters (i.e. Languages such as Korean, Chinese and Japanese).

This is a limitation of Windows XP. Renaming the folder or moving the files to a folder which name does not contain Multibyte characters will resolve this issue.

After activating and licencing my TriDef software, why do I receive a message "The TriDef licenses on this machine do not allow playback on the selected 3-D Display"?

This is because the display currently selected in the TriDef Control Panel is not supported by the licence you have installed. Please ensure you have selected the correct 3-D Display.

You can verify this using the TriDef Control Panel: Start -> All Programs -> DDD -> TriDefControl Panel

Please ensure you have selected the correct "Current 3-D Display" Manufacturer from the drop-down list, then press the "Apply" and "OK" buttons.

The message should now not appear when you restart your TriDef applications.

Why do I receive the following error: "Illegal System DLL Relocation. The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly...."?

This is an issue that has been addressed by Microsoft. Please refer to: Microsoft KB 935448.
