3-D Games

When I switch out of a game to view the desktop (by pressing the Start key or Alt-Tab) the game crashes when I try to switch back again.

This is a known problem and we currently working on a solution. In the meantime please exit out of the game to return to the desktop.

Tomb Raider Anniversary runs slowly in 3-D, is there something I can do about this?

Please ensure that your PC fully matches the minimum specifications required by Tomb Raider Anniversary. The fullscreen effects used in Tomb Raider Anniversary are quite intensive. We recommend turning these effects off to increase performance for this game.

The performance of the 3-D games is quite low on my system, is there anything I can do to optimize?

Rendering a game in stereoscopic 3-D requires additional resources over and above those recommended by the games publisher. The first thing to do is check that your system at least meets the minimum system requirements of the games you want to play. DDD's 3-D game drivers render each frame twice to generate the left and right views. The frame size is determined from the video resolution set by the game. One option for performance enhancement is therefore to reduce the resolution in the game. The output 3-D image is scaled to fullscreen. Changing desktop resolution is not necessary.

Why do I receive an error stating "missing d3dx9_32.dll"?

Please ensure you have the latest version of DirectX installed. Once you download and install DirectX, your issue should be resolved.

Why am I getting logged out of Battlefield 2142 when playing on-line in 3-D?

This may happen if you are playing on a PunkBuster server. This is a due to an incompatibility with the TriDef DirectX 9 Game Driver and PunkBuster.

Please select a server that does not use PunkBuster.

On the Multiplay selection screen, ensure the PunkBuster filter is off (unchecked). When looking at your list of available servers, select any that does not have the PunkBuster icon (Blue icon with circle).

Can I use TriDef software on a PC with NVIDIA Stereo Drivers installed?

Yes, however you can only use one at a time. Please refer to our Troubleshooting FAQ

Why do I receive the following: Error: out of video Memory: Please turn off anti aliasing

There is not enough memory to load the TriDef DirectX driver.

As the message indicates, please disable anti-aliasing. This setting is usually in the "Video" section of the game's graphics options.

Why does my game crash when the TriDef DirectX Driver is loaded but works correctly when it is not loaded?

One possible cause is that there is not enough video memory to load the game in 3-D.

Please load the game without the TriDef DirectX Driver and reduce the amount of graphics detail. Then try restarting the game via TriDef Launchpad.

Please disable anti-aliasing. This setting is usually in the "Video" section of the game's graphics options.

When playing Command and Conquer, I see two mouse cursors and only the one on the left works. This is very distracting, how do I get rid of the false cursor?

This is a known problem and we are currently working on a fix. The problem only occurs when the resolution of the desktop and the resolution used by the game are different. Fortunately, there is a simple fix. Please run the game in 2-D, by launching it from the Start menu and change the resolution (under Options/Settings) to match the resolution of your desktop. For example, if your desktop is running at 1920x1080 set the resolution of the game into 1920x1080.
