How do Samsung 3-D Ready HDTVs work?
Samsung 3-D Ready HDTVs are enabled by Digital Light Processing (DLP(R)) or Plasma Display Panel (PDP) engines that are capable of very fast refresh rates (120Hz). The inherent speed of these display technologies enables high quality stereoscopic 3-D by alternatively displaying left and right eye images. The display is synchronised with 3-D shutter glasses to provide the observer with a vivid perception of depth.
Samsung's 3-D Ready HDTVs are a breakthrough in stereoscopic 3-D display technology that offers a very high quality 3-D experience on a commercial TV at a very reasonable price.

How do I connect my PC to a Samsung 3-D Ready HDTV?
The DVI output from the PC's graphics card must be connected to the TV's 3-D compatible HDMI port using a DVI-to-HDMI cable (or a HDMI cable plus a DVI to HDMI adaptor).
Alternatively, some newer graphics cards have a HDMI port instead of a DVI port. In this case, simply use a HDMI cable to connect the PC directly to the TV.
On all models, the 3-D compatible HDMI port is identified by the letters "DVI". (eg, "HDMI 3/DVI IN" or "HDMI 1/DVI IN")
What other equipment do I need to enjoy 3-D on my 3-D Ready HDTV?
- Windows PC with DVI output (more information on recommended PC specifications)
- Compatible 3-D Shutter glasses (available here) and IR emitter with VESA compatible sync connector
- Popcorn and a comfy chair
How do I connect the IR emitter to the 3-D TV to support wireless 3-D shutter glasses?
The IR emitter should be connected to the "3D SYNC OUT" socket. The emitter should be placed on top of the TV with the LEDs facing towards the room.
What resolution should the PC's desktop be set to for use with a Samsung 3-D DLP(R) HDTV?
The ideal resolution is 1920x1080 for most models, or 1280x720 for model numbers HLT4675S, HLT5075S and HLT5675S.
How do I turn the TV into 3-D mode?
Ensure that the TV source is set to "HDMI 3/DVI" (or "HDMI 1/DVI" for 720p models).
DLP HDTVs
Press the 3D button on the TV remote control. The following text should appear on the TV:
3D Game : ON-STD GLS
If no text is displayed, then hold down the button for a second or so. If different text appears, then press the button again until the correct text is displayed.
If pressing the 3D button still has no effect, then it is likely that the PC is connected to the incorrect HDMI port.
PDP HDTVs
Press the Tools button and select 3D Effect. Update from Off to Mode1.
When I press the 3D button on the remote control the display does not switch into 3-D mode. Why?
The 3-D game mode is only available when using the correct HDMI input on the Samsung 3-D DLP(R) HDTV. Please refer to "How do I connect my PC to a Samsung 3-D DLP(R) HDTV".
