Calibrating a 3D display

Calibrating a 3-D Display for TriDef software is a fine tuning process only. The 3-D Display must first be calibrated according to manufacturer's instructions.

Adjust the Center control if you find that the most comfortable viewing position if not directly in front of your 3-D Display. This control is not available for all types of 3-D Displays.

  1. Open the TriDef Control Panel

Tip: Double-click the TriDef Control Panelicon in the System Tray, or

Start > (All) Programs > DDD > Utilities > TriDef Control Panel

  2. Click the Calibration tab.

    Click Show Test Pattern.

  3. This displays a test pattern of tiny colored dots which form larger shapes when you view them from a distance. You want to cover as much of the screen as possible in a single colored blob.

  4. Stand directly in front of the 3-D Display. Can you see mostly color from there, or do you need to move a little to the left or right to see the biggest colored area?

Tip: Stand at the 'best viewing distance' for this 3-D Display, as advised by the manufacturer. If you are too close or too far away you will see multiple colored blobs, rather than a single shape.

  5. Press H to bring the TriDef Control Panel in front of the test pattern.

Tip: The test pattern will disappear if you click on it.

  6. If you have to stand to the right of center to see the most color, push the Center slider over to the Left side to compensate.

If you have to stand to the left of center to see the most color, push the Center slider over to the Right side to compensate.

Tip: If you run out of slider in any direction, start at the other end.

  7. Press H again to see the whole test pattern, or if you are finished, click the Hide Test Pattern button.

  8. The Restore Defaults... button will restore the slider to the default value for your selected 3-D Display.

  9. Click Apply to save this setting, and OK to close the TriDef Control Panel.
